Silver Star is the Gold Standard when it comes to customer interface which is almost non-existent these days. Joseph or Walt would call to keep me updated on progress accessing a hard-to-find steering rack and shock mount upgrade kit. And I was pleased with the very fair total cost but mostly the level of communication. Thank you so much.

Silver Star came to my rescue in a heartbeat as I pulled in with a low pressure tire warning on my Mazda 3. Without hesitation, they looked at my tire, removed the screw and plugged the hole for a whopping $21! When I walked in, I was impressed with Joe and Terry’s friendliness and can-do attitude, showed to the very comfortable waiting room and offered a beverage – wow! They should be named GOLD STAR – total professionals, clean shop and office. Couldn’t have been more impressed – thank you!

I had a somewhat unusual problem which the local Benz dealer had deemed “major surgery” with a cost to match– but Team Silver Star tackled it with ease and at a fraction of the cost that the MB dealer svc ctr had quoted. Manager Joseph Hall, Jr. is a seasoned Professional– who clearly hires only the best technicians– and is very friendly and knowledgeable; offered excellent recommendations for additional issues, but wasn’t at all “pushy” about any that that I declined. He personally COMMUNICATED every important aspect of my repair via e-mail and text (ie. IN WRITING) so that there were no “surprises”– SO rare in the private garage world! TWO THUMBS UP for ALL owners of older (ie. Off-Warranty) imports– especially Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Saab, or Jaguars of any age 🙂 I’ve also PURCHASED high-quality used cars from them in the past, and can vouch for their Sterling SALES approach, as well.

Having owned BMWs for over 30 years, I’ve dealt with a lot of service centers. Often my post-service feeling is that I’ve been somewhat had – with extras, additional costs, etc. I don’t get that feeling at Silver Star. They seem fair, thorough and reasonably priced. They’ll tell you something to watch out for … rather that turning that observation into an immediate service upsell.

Silver Star has been maintaining my 1993 Mercedes since 2001; it is still on the road running and driving like new. They maintained my 1998 Jaguar through 168,000 miles. Now they maintain my 2009 Mercedes. I would never go back to the dealer. They are always available to take the car without a four or five week wait. They will let you know of issues before they become problems. They provide you options and explain why they recommend work or not doing work. They are less costly than the dealer and they provide a much better experience. They don’t provide free loaners but they are so much less costly the rental might as well be free.

the secret to maintaining a Mercedes cost effectively is to have a good mechanic. I have 2–a 1997 and a 1981–and I’ve been based in three states since acquiring the 1981. Once you find a good MB mechanic, it’s a lot less expensive to maintain the car in great condition. Silver Star is my choice for Maryland.

I’ve taken my Jaguar F-Type convertible to these folks since I bought it a few years ago. She’s basically a “Garage Queen” that I baby like a child (as long as my wallet will allow) so I’m very particular (and honestly interested in how things operate on the car) so I have a habit of questioning everything when she’s worked on. Recently had a weird tire issue (large screw/spike inside rear, hitting rear end when driving). Long story, but tires had to sourced (can’t buy off the rack that I could find), car had to be towed, it was a real time consuming pain/mess for me. Gave them a call, explained my issue(s). They sourced the tires (had them in 2 days) for basically the same price if I had spent days hunting for them and had them shipped on my own. Due to my misunderstanding, I even missed the appt to have them put on. Despite being busy, they still took my car in and had me back on the road the next day. These guys rock. They always do good work, explain what’s going on, and always answer my never ending, sometimes relentless questions with a smile, incredible patience, and not a hint of “please just get out of my face” :). A big thank you to Ray and the entire SS team for helping me out again and if you want great service on a vehicle they work on, these are the guys.
I have a 1967 Mercedes 250 SL that kept stalling at lights only after driving for some time. When I called Mercedes to schedule an appointment They said they no longer service that model/year (pretty disappointing), but did recommend Silver Star. I took it to Silver Star but was afraid they wouldn't be able to duplicate the problem because it only stalled/wouldn't start until cooled after it had been running for a long time at high speeds. I was able to explain my symptoms to the service team and through a number of test drives and calls to me to let me know what they were experiencing to see if I concurred (talk about customer service), they were were able to duplicate the problem and fix it plus another coil ignition problem that added another dimension to the cars acceleration and top-end speed. I can now drive the car without fear of stalling at the light - not a pleasant experience.I can't thank the Silver Star team enough for their professionalism and customer service and courtesy. They go the extra mile and then some. They have my highest recommendation for your service need.Bob Riera

I ABSOLUTELY understand how they have almost five stars. I brought in a 1990 350SDL with a turbo that wasn't building boost. I was told $250ish for diagnosis and that's perfectly fair... People should be paid for their expertise.Turned out to basically be what I thought it was, waste gate was stuck open and an easy fix.What I didn't realize was that that diagnosis fee also included a thorough inspection of my old Benz. And I now have a list of all the things that need my attention over the next few months.100% recommend
